Luís Filipe Sá graduated from the Conservatory of Music of Porto in the class of Maria Teresa Xavier. He was also a disciple of Helena Moreira de Sá e Costa, with whom he developed and deepened his piano studies. Worked chamber music in the classes of the cellist Madalena Moreira de Sá e Costa and the violinist Alberto Gaio Lima. He was a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He attended courses of interpretation with Joseph Paleniceck, Aldo Ciccolini, Luís Moura e Castro, Nelly Ben-Or and Monique Deschaussées, with the latter perfecting in particular the technical and interpretive aspects. He is awarded in several national competitions.
He has developed a vast activity in the field of opera and symphonic choral music, as a pianist, in close collaboration with Círculo Portuense de Ópera, master choir conductor and master conductor Ivo Cruz. He was a member of the Artistic council of this institution.
He was teaching numerous masterclasses and was responsible for the musical direction and jury member at various national and international courses and competitions.
He performed recitals and concerts in Portugal, Spain and France, both as a soloist and in chamber music groups, and recorded several programs for RTP and RDP. Under the direction of the conductors Gunther Arglebe, Omri Hadari, Gintaras Rinkevicius and Muhai Tang, he was soloist with the Symphonic and National Orchestras of Porto. As a guest pianist, he collaborated assiduously and for many years with the current Symphony Orchestra of Porto Casa da Música.
He held teaching positions at the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga and at the Conservatory of Gaia. He is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Music and Performing Arts at Porto, where he teaches since 1990.
